About Me

Hi everyone!  I'm Elle, also known as "Elle Is For Living" on Youtube.  This blog is an extension of my YouTube channel to share content in more detail and to communicate with you.

I live in Phoenix, Arizona and am blessed with full life that includes a fabulous job, a life full of friends, my wonderful husband, a fantastic family that lives in Canada (my Mum is the source of so much life wisdom) as well as my two book clubs and travels.  I believe that you don't have to spend a lot of money to look great or have a full life, although those splurges are fun as well.

My passions in life, in no particular order are:  my husband, books/reading, knitting/crochet, make-up and fashion.

I would love to hear what you read, what you think of my YouTube videos and feedback of things you would like to see on YouTube or this blog.

    1. Hi Elle, I would like to make 2 serum (am&pm) I have the following ingredients.
Alpha Arbutin powder, Vit C powder, Hyaluronic Acid, l-Glutathione, Niacinamide serum and Glycerin, distilled water. Any advice I am grateful for getting started on measurement and the selection for am: use and pm: use combinations. I have oily skin, pigmented-uneven skin tone. I have used all these ingredients separately so my skin can tolerate it well. Thanks

  2. I just discovered your channel as I am researching Diatametrious (sp?) Earth. I enjoyed seeing your other videos, I love your practical wisdom and outlook on life. I am wondering how long you have been taking the DE and are you still taking it and still view it favorably?

    1. Renee - we have been taking DE for almost 2 years and absolutely love it. It has brought down my husband's cholesterol and I think it is helping my dog's arthritis (hard to say without his feedback). For myself, I sleep better, have VERY regular bowels and notice my hair, skin and nails are in good shape. I hope that helps you to know if it is right for you but, we love it.

    3. Hi

I am wondering how much to give a 45 pound dog? We have a Kelpie mix and think it might prevent or help her joints as she is always climbing running jumping and sliding to stop herself as she is very fast.

  3. I would start with 1 Tbsp every morning in the smallest amount of water. After 2 or 3 days, then go up to 2 every morning. For me, it made me regular VERY quickly and then settled out. My husband never had that so it varies with individuals. You can also know if you need more/less based on your sleep. You should notice good sleep by the first or second night. When you increase the dose, if it changes to where you are restless, then cut back to 1 Tbsp again. I hope you like it.

I love it that you are in to reading and I enjoy Patricia Cornwell too.

  6. Hi Elle. I just discovered your blog and YT channel this weekend. I lov your topics, esp your Sunday chats. You are a vey motivational speaker and I love videos that are thought provoking and give us pause to access wat is important in life. If you are seeking topic ideas, wud you plz consider a Sunday chat on accepting our life for wat it is? So many of us ,esp if we are female, career professionals, hav such high unreasonable expectations of yourselves. Esp being a a career mom who is the primary breadwinner, I hav found it often hard to reconcile where I am in my life...financially, mostly.... with way I ' thought ' my life shud b based on education, profession, etc. I hope this sort of makes sense. Anyway, thank you for your inspiration! Holly

I hope that you have a great day.

  34. Hello Elle, I am enjoying your channel, but have a question. Could you possibly make a chart for the steps for the order than products should go on your face please? I watch Sharon Capehart channel as well, (she made a chart today 9/12/18) & while I love some of her advise I have Multiple Sclerosis & can't work so funds are very limited. I saw where you had a video on lower cost alternatives & even how to make the vitamin C. I am just now starting to learn about skin care. 35. Dear Elle,

I’m trying to make your vitamin c serum but my glycerin gels into a solid about two hours after I mix it all. Do you think my glycerin is bad? It’s about a year old but has been kept in a cool dark closet. Is the type of glycerin I use? It’s vegetable glycerin - brand name “Now”. Thanks for your help!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That is strange Lizette. I have never had that problem. I am wondering if you are using a different type of glycerin that sets up harder so you should try using less? I have only used the one kind of glycerin so am not sure but that is what I would try if I was you. Maybe instead of the 1/2 tsp of glycerin, try just a drop?

      Delete
    2. Thank you Elle. I thought it was the glycerin. But,instead, it’s the combo of vit c and h acid. I tried just bleeding those two with distilled water prior to adding the glycerin and it congealed. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I ordered the same products you suggested. Perhaps add more water? I am using the vit c h acid combo recipe you suggested. I will keep trying! Thank You!

I love your vids on everything but particularly your use up and bargain ones. I realized that an $8 face powder was just as good as the $40 one. Thank you for that!! I LOVE your drug store and dollar store finds. 40. Hi Elle,
I have been following your channel since I'm pretty sure I have early Sjogrens - just the dryness at the moment. My conventional doctors have brushed off my symptoms and some of them were downright rude!
I was looking for answers and I watched your video where you said 'eat meat' and thought it can't hurt to reintroduce it and see what happens (I've been veggie for 8 years). Well OH MY GOSH I had about a 50% reduction in symptoms after a couple of weeks!
Well, I'm seeing a functional doctor on Saturday to tackle the next 50%! This is the first thing that has made me feel like I am in control again.
    Thanks for keeping me hopeful!
Could I ask what you have managed to reintroduce after your healing period and in what sort of quantity?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh Eve, thank you so much for writing me. I hear from so many people who are in such a bad way and I love hearing from someone who has benefitted!!! I truly hope that the functional Dr is able to help you with the last 50%. I got to about 80% and that last 20% has been tricky (especially with a high stress job - which doesn't help!). This blog post may help you http://elleisforliving.blogspot.com/2019/04/curing-sjogrens-autoimmune-and.html

      Delete
    2. Yes, I have read that one! I'm on an elimination diet at the moment from my Functional Medicine doctor as she thinks I have leaky gut. She believes that the reason meat helps is that my potassium levels were low from being veggie. Did you find this as well?

I'm in Finance, so I totally feel the high stress thing - makes it hard to get into a routine. But my symptoms have only ever been relatively mild, so it's not causing too much of a problem yet, which is why I want to try and do as much as I can now. Did you feel like you got anywhere with that last 20%?

      Delete
    3. I had leaky gut and SIBO - which is why the meat heals. For me, getting rid of the bacteria infection with either garlic pills, oil of oregano pills or chinese coptis and then betaine for the leaky gut helped immensely. It is funny you mention potassium as I believe I am lacking in it due to an alkaline gut. Without enough gut acid (betaine) your body can't absorb the nutrients. We lose gut acid due to stress, age and illness. If you are like me, you have all three! I have times when I am 100% but, thanks to my high stress job, I sometimes go through spells where I am not 100%. I am usually able to fix it myself but actually just made an apptmnt to go to my Functional Dr again. Figured it has been a few years so is probably time. I am so glad it sounds like you have a good Function Dr and I hope you heal that last bit to 100%.

      Delete
    4. I may mention the stomach acid thing to my FM Doctor then, as I feel like I eat a lot of potassium-rich foods, so maybe they just aren't getting absorbed!

The elimination diet has me cutting out pork and beef, which I'm not sure is ideal honestly. I'm so sick of salmon and mackerel after just a week! All things to bring to my next appointment.

I ended up mentioning your Youtube channel in my last appointment actually! I said 'if this lady can bounce back from such a difficult place', so can I!

      Delete
    5. Yes Eve, if I can bounce back from a bleeding throat and peeling my eyelids off, that should give you hope! I am a big believer in gathering information (from me, your dr and your own research) but, above all listening to your body. Everyone is different so your body should be the ultimate guide for what you choose to do/not do. I hope that you continue pursuing healing as you will get there! ♥

  42. Elle I took some Betaine last night one before bed and today I woke up with tons of gasses burping and feel nauseas. 😪is this normal? Did you feel the same when you started taking it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is normal if you a) don't take it with protein b) don't have an alkaline stomach. You may not need it? I always say 'listen to your body'. I ate meat for almost 3 weeks straight when I was first healing from Sjogren's. I had SIBO and low stomach acid (you may not). I can tell you 2 things: 1) this is related to your gut 2) you have to experiment as to what works for you. Pay attention to your body and what it likes/doesn't like. It feels like slow going but, you will figure it out and make progress.

      Delete
  43. I am pretty sure that i have Sjogrens is from mold exposure.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The first thing to do is remove your exposure to mold. I would consult a Functional Dr but I would guess you may have a gut bacteria (SIBO or leaky gut) so would probably need chinese coptis and charcoal and then something else like Morinda/Noni. I would also recommend lots of healthy fats. If your stomach is weakened from the mold, you may need to pay attention to what foods cause a flare and avoid those for now. Meat, fish, chicken & eggs are usually safe and then gradually experiment from there with adding other things but listen to your body. I hope that this helps.
