April Scriptures
Elle's Lavish Dessert
- Ice cream sandwiches
- Cool whip
- Heath bar chocolate & toffee bits
- Caramel Sauce
- Chocolate Sauce
- Cinnamon, optional
- Cover pan with ice cream bars. Cover in a layer of cool whip. You can repeat bars/whip if you want to make it a double layer but I do the single layer.
- Sprinkle the heath bar bits on top. Freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- On the plate, drizzle in one direction with caramel sauce and in the other direction with chocolate sauce
- Dish up a square of the dessert and dust with cinnamon.
- You can make this in a small 8 x 8 pan or, for large groups, use a 9 x 13. SO incredibly delicious!
March Scriptures
John 16:32-33
But the time is coming indeed
it’s here now when you will be scattered,
each one going his own way, leaving me alone.
Yet I am not alone because the Father is
with me. I have told you all this so that you may
have peace in me. Here on earth
you will have many trials and sorrows.
But take heart, because
I have overcome the world.”
Psalm 121:7-8
The Lord will protect you and keep you
safe from all dangers.
The Lord will protect you now and
always wherever you go.
Psalm 34:7-9
The angel of the Lord encamps around those
who fear him, and he delivers them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
2 Thessalonians 3:3-5
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen
you and protect you from the evil one.
We have confidence in the Lord that you are
doing and will continue to do the
things we command. May the Lord
direct your hearts into
God's love and Christ's perseverance.
3 Isaiah 54:17
No weapon forged against you will prevail, and
you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants
of the Lord, and this is their vindication from
me," declares the Lord.
Psalm 17:8-10
Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings
from the wicked
who are out to destroy me,
from my mortal enemies who surround me.
They close up their callous hearts,
and their mouths speak with arrogance.
Psalm 91
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are
your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes, and see how the
wicked are punished.
If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
For he will order his angels to protect you
wherever you go. They will hold you
up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and
serpents under your feet! The Lord says,
“I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
I will reward them with a long life
and give them my salvation.”
Easy French Dip
The original recipe is by Cooking With Karli and is done in an Insta Pot. I adapted the recipe for the crock pot. Either way, so easy and delicious!
Ingredients
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2-3 lbs chuck roast
- 1 pkg onion soup mix
- 1 pkg au jus seasoning
- Sandwich Supplies:
- 6-8 rolls (Mark likes Ciabatta rolls or French rolls)
- sliced white cheese I like provolone
- mayonnaise & horse radish
- OR
- butter & garlic powder
- Add broth, roast, onion soup mix, and au jus seasoning to your Crock Pot. Cook on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours - till roast falls apart with fork. Remove from the pot and shred. I like to return the meat to the juice, but this does make it absorb more juice (i.e., will be more 'drippy).
- To make the sandwiches, toast rolls then spread with butter and sprinkle garlic or mayonnaise and horseradish (my personal favorite). Place sliced cheese on the top roll and add the shredded meat to the roll to create your sandwich. These were plenty juicy but, if you wanted, you could ladle some of the juice into small individual ramekins for dipping.
- Short on time? Cut your roast up into 3 or 4 large chunks
DIY Probiotic Water Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 C Purified water
- 1/2 to 1 tsp honey (more will mean faster/stronger fermentation)
- 1/2 probiotic capsule
- 2. Add probiotic powder
- 3. Put lid on jar and shake.
- 4. Put on window sill for 3 days or till ready (try to keep near 70 degrees)
- 5. Should smell semi-sweet (see notes)
- 6. Strain into another glass jar and put in fridge
- 7. Enjoy by adding to any drink you want water. I add about 1/4 C to a drink
- Save last 1/4 to 1/3 of batch, fill up with purified water and repeat steps 2 to 7 BUT skip Step #2 as your starter will give you your probiotic
- If it smells like plain water - then add a bit more probiotic and honey to ferment again.
- I try to use local honey as that can help with allergies
- 10/28 - Doubled batch 4 x 16 oz canning jars (hold approximately 2 C water each) added 1/2 tsp of honey to each jar and used 1 probiotic capsule for the 4 jars
- 11/5 - LOVE using this 1 Gallon large glass jar amzn.to/3v1CjLq to make a large batch and filtering off what I want to a pitcher in the fridge. With remaining brew, add more filtered water and honey and brew another batch. 1 Gallon=16C so multiply the above recipe by 8.
Limeade Apple Cider Vinegar Drink
A lot of us know that apple cider vinegar is good for us but, that taste - blech! I have discovered that the more acid I add to the drink, the more palatable it is to get down. Here is the recipe for the drink that I like to use in the mornings:
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon stevia or other natural sweetener, optional
- 2 cups of cold water
- Mix together, taste and add more sweetener if needed. Serve cold over ice
