Sunday Chat: Memorizing Scripture

And you must commit yourselves
 wholeheartedly to these commands
that I am giving you today.
Repeat them again and again
to your children.
Talk about them when you
are at home and
when you are on the road,
when you are going to bed
and when you are getting up.
 Deuteronomy 6:6-7

“If you love me, obey my commandments.
 John 14:15

For the word of God is alive and powerful.
It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword,
cutting between soul and spirit,
between joint and marrow.
It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Hebrews 4:12

Study this Book of Instruction continually.
Meditate on it day and night so
you will be sure to obey
everything written in it.
Only then will you prosper and
succeed in all you do.
Joshua 1:8

Help me understand the
meaning of your commandments,
and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.
Psalm 119:27

I honor and love your commands.
 I meditate on your decrees.
Psalm 119:48

But they delight in the
law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
 Psalm 1:2

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress;
the godly run to him and are safe.
 Proverbs 18:10

‘People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
 Matthew 4:4

Put on salvation as your helmet,
and take the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God
 Ephesians 6:17

Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life
Proverbs 4:23

He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
 His faithful promises are your
 armor and protection.
 Psalm 91:4

 Don’t worry about anything;
instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need,
and thank him for all he has done.
Philippians 4:6

He sent out his word
and healed them,
 snatching them from
the door of death
 Psalm 107:20

If your instructions hadn’t sustained me with joy,
I would have died in my misery.
 Psalm 119:92

 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
 and my place of safety.
 Psalm 18:2

 God’s way is perfect.
All the Lord’s promises prove true.
He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
 Psalm 18:30

 The Lord is my strength and my song;
 he has given me victory.
 Psalm 118:14

So don’t worry about these things,
saying, ‘What will we eat?
What will we drink?
What will we wear?’
These things dominate the
thoughts of unbelievers,
but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else,
and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
“So don’t worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will bring its own worries.
Today’s trouble is enough for today.
 Matthew 6:31-34

I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
 Psalm 119:11

But don’t just listen to God’s word.
You must do what it says.
Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
For if you listen to the word and don’t obey,
it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.
You see yourself, walk away, and
forget what you look like.
But if you look carefully into
the perfect law that sets you free,
and if you do what it says and
don’t forget what you heard,
then God will bless you for doing it.
 James 1:22-25

And don’t forget to do good
and to share with those in need.
These are the sacrifices that please God.
 Hebrews 13:16

And then he told them,
“Go into all the world and
preach the Good News to everyone.
Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.
But anyone who refuses to believe
will be condemned.
 Mark 16:15-16

For the Good News must first be
preached to all nations
 Mark 13:10

Instead, you must worship Christ
 as Lord of your life.
And if someone asks about your
hope as a believer,
always be ready to explain it.
 1 Peter 3:15

Let the message about Christ,
in all its richness, fill your lives.
Teach and counsel each other with
all the wisdom he gives.
Sing psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
 Colossians 3:16

And the seeds that fell on the good soil
represent honest, good-hearted people who hear
God’s word, cling to it, and patiently
produce a huge harvest.
 Luke 8:15

And I will make an everlasting covenant with them:
I will never stop doing good for them.
I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me,
and they will never leave me.
 Jeremiah 32:40

 He was fully convinced that
God is able to do whatever he promises.
 Romans 4:21

All Scripture is inspired by God
and is useful to teach us
what is true and to make us realize
what is wrong in our lives.
It corrects us when we are wrong
and teaches us to do what is right.
God uses it to prepare and equip
his people to do every good work.
 2 Timothy 3:16

This is the day the Lord has made
we will rejoice and be glad in it
Psalm 118:24

Elle's Cauli-tater Salad

If you are craving potato salad but want a healthy / keto version, this is it! Mark, who doesn't even think of being healthy, requests this over a potato salad. With microwaving the cauliflower, it makes it so easy (no peeling, boiling and then mashing potatoes). I make it at least the day beforehand to let the flavors meld. So good!

Elle's Cauli-tater Salad

Ingredients
  • 1 medium cauliflower head, chopped
  • 3 large hard boiled eggs, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1/4 medium red onion
  • 1 to 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (add more if needed)
  • 1/2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 full pickles finely chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp Pink Himalayan Salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Steps
  1. Break the head of cauliflower up into chunks and cut into desired sized pieces.
  2. Add all the cauliflower to a microwave safe bowl and cover bowl with damp paper towels. Microwave on high for 3 and stir and then continue to mic for 3 to 6 minutes, stirring or until cauliflower is fork tender.
  3. Dice the hard boiled eggs, celery, red onion and chives and add it to the bowl of cauliflower.
  4. In a separate bowl combine the mayo, mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt and black pepper and then pour it over the cauliflower mixture.
  5. Combine the entire mixture thoroughly with a spoon and add any additional salt and pepper as you see necessary.
  6. Make the day ahead.
  7. Store in a sealed container in the fridge up to one week. Serve cold and enjoy!

Sunday Chat: Role of Christian Women's

For wives, this means submit
to your husbands as to the Lord.

For a husband is the head
of his wife as Christ
is the head of the church.

He is the Savior of his body,
the church.
 Ephesians 5:21-23

In the same way,
you wives must accept the authority
of your husbands.

Then, even if some refuse to
obey the Good News,
your godly lives will speak to them
without any words.
They will be won over
by observing your
pure and reverent lives.
1 Peter 3:1 & 2

Give honor to marriage,
and remain faithful to
one another in marriage.
God will surely judge people
who are immoral and
those who commit adultery.
 Hebrews 13:4

Therefore shall a man
leave his father and his mother,
and shall cleave unto his wife:
and they shall be one flesh.
 Genesis 2:24

The husband should fulfill
his wife’s sexual needs,
and the wife should fulfill
her husband’s needs.

The wife gives authority over
 her body to her husband,
and the husband gives authority
over his body to his wife.

Do not deprive each other
of sexual relations,
unless you both agree to
refrain from sexual intimacy
 for a limited time so
you can give yourselves
more completely to prayer.
Afterward, you should come together
again so that Satan won’t be able
to tempt you because of your
lack of self-control.
Corinthians 7: 3-6

A wife of noble character
who can find?
 She is worth far more
than rubies.
 her husband has full confidence
in her and
lacks nothing of value.
 She brings him good,
not harm, all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31:10-12

Your beauty should not
come from outward adornment,
such as elaborate hairstyles
and the wearing of gold jewelry
or fine clothes.
Rather, it should be that
of your inner self,
the unfading beauty
of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is of great worth in God’s sight.
For this is the way
the holy women of the past
who put their hope in God
used to adorn themselves.
They submitted themselves to
their own husbands,
 1 Peter 3:3-5

And I want women to
be modest in their appearance.
They should wear decent and
appropriate clothing and not
draw attention to themselves
by the way they fix their hair or
by wearing gold or
 pearls or expensive clothes
1 Timothy 2:9

 “You must not misuse
the name of the Lord your God.
The Lord will not let you go
unpunished if you misuse his name.
 Exodus 20:7

Similarly, teach the older women
to live in a way that honors God.
They must not slander others
or be heavy drinkers.
Instead, they should teach
others what is good.
These older women must train
the younger women to
love their husbands and their children,
to live wisely and be pure,
to work in their homes,
to do good, and to be submissive
to their husbands.
Then they will not bring shame
on the word of God.
 Titus 2: 3-5

Sunday Chat: How Christians Should Vote

Select capable men from all the people—
men who fear God,
trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—
and appoint them as officials over
thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.
Exodus 18:21

When the righteous are in authority
 the people rejoice;
 but when the wicked rule,
the people mourn.
The king by judgment
 establishes the land but
 he that receives gifts
 overthrows it.
If a ruler listens to lies,
 all his servants are wicked.
Proverbs 29:2, 4, 12

For lack of guidance
a nation falls,
but victory is won through
many advisers.
Proverbs 11:14

You must not murder.
 Exodus 20:33

Anyone who takes another person’s life
must be put to death.
 Leviticus 24:17

You made all the delicate,
inner parts of my body and
knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 Psalm 139:13

I knew you before I formed you
 in your mother’s womb.
 Before you were born
I set you apart and appointed you
as my prophet to the nations
Jeremiah 1:5

 The Lord called me before my birth;
from within the womb he called me by name.
 Isaiah 49:1

A few days later
Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea,
to the town where Zechariah lived.
She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth.
At the sound of Mary’s greeting,
 Elizabeth’s child leaped within her,
and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
 Luke 1:39-41

Children are a gift from the Lord;
they are a reward from him.
 Psalm 127:3

We have borrowed money
for the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.
we are forcing our sons and daughters
to be slaves, and some of our daughters
 have already been enslaved,
but it is not in our power to help it,
for other men have our fields and our vineyards
 Nehemiah 5:4-5

Collect no more taxes than
the government requires.
 Luke 3:13

Do not practice homosexuality,
 having sex with another man
 as with a woman.
 It is a detestable sin.
 Leviticus 18:22

The law is for people who are sexually immoral,
 or who practice homosexuality,
or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers,
or who do anything else that contradicts
the wholesome teaching
 1 Timothy 1:10

 If a man practices homosexuality,
having sex with another man as with a woman,
both men have committed a detestable act.
They must both be put to death,
for they are guilty of a capital offense.
 Leviticus 20:13

" Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied.
“They record that from the beginning
‘God made them male and female.
And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves
his father and mother and is joined to his wife,
and the two are united into one.
Matthew 19:4-5

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong
will not inherit the Kingdom of God?
 Don’t fool yourselves.
Those who indulge in sexual sin,
or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes,
 or practice homosexuality
or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God
 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

“What should we do with these men?”
 they asked each other.
“We can’t deny that they have
performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it.
But to keep them from spreading their propaganda
any further, we must warn them not to speak
to anyone in Jesus’ name again.”
So they called the apostles back in and
commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.
But Peter and John replied, “Do you think God wants us
to obey you rather than him?
We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.”
Acts 4:18-20

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.
For there is no authority except from God,
and those that exist have been instituted by God”

Sunday Chat / Being A Good Steward of God's Money

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth,

where moths eat them and

rust destroys them, and

where thieves break in and steal.

Store your treasures in heaven,

where moths and rust cannot destroy,

and thieves do not break in and steal.

Wherever your treasure is,

there the desires of

your heart will also be.

“Your eye is like a lamp that provides

light for your body.

When your eye is healthy,

your whole body is filled with light.

But when your eye is unhealthy,

your whole body is filled with darkness.

And if the light you think you have

is actually darkness,

how deep that darkness is!

“No one can serve two masters.

For you will hate one

and love the other;

you will be devoted to one

and despise the other.

You cannot serve God

and be enslaved to money.

Matthew 6: 19-24

Those who live according to the flesh

have their minds set

on what the flesh desires;

but those who live in

accordance with the Spirit

have their minds set on

what the Spirit desires.

Romans 8:5

To be made new in the

attitude of your minds;

Ephesians 4:23

Think about the things

of heaven, not the things of earth.

Colossians 3:2

Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich.
Be wise enough to know when to quit.
In the blink of an eye
wealth disappears,
for it will sprout wings
and fly away like an eagle.

Proverbs 23:4-5

Don’t love money;

be satisfied with what you have.

For God has said,

“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.”

Hebrews 13:5

For the love of money

is the root of all kinds of evil.

And some people, craving money,

have wandered from the true faith

and pierced themselves

with many sorrows.

1 Timothy 6:10

There is another serious problem

I have seen under the sun.

Hoarding riches harms the saver.

Money is put into risky investments

that turn sour, and

everything is lost. In the end,

there is nothing left to

pass on to one’s children.

We all come to the end of our lives as naked and

empty-handed as on the day we were born.

We can’t take our riches with us.

Ecclesiates 5:13-15

It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work

under the sun during the short life God has given them,

and to accept their lot in life.

And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and

the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and

accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.

Ecclesiates 5:18-19

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others

will themselves be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:25

If someone has enough money

to live well and sees

a brother or sister in need

but shows no compassion—

how can God’s love be in that person?

1 John 3:17

Pure and genuine religion

in the sight of God the Father means

caring for orphans and widows

in their distress and refusing

to let the world corrupt you.

James 1:27

Teach those who are rich in this world

not to be proud and not to trust in their money,

which is so unreliable.

Their trust should be in God,

who richly gives us all

we need for our enjoyment.

Tell them to use their money

to do good.

They should be rich in good works

and generous to those in need,

always being ready to share with others.

By doing this they will be storing up

their treasure as a good foundation

for the future so that they may experience true life.

1 Timothy 6:17-19

The blessing of the Lord

makes a person rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.

Proverbs 10:22

If you help the poor,

you are lending to the Lord
and he will repay you!

Proverbs 19:17

You must each decide in your heart

how much to give.

And don’t give reluctantly or in

response to pressure.

“For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

Corinthians 9:6-7

Give, and you will receive.

Your gift will return to you in full—

pressed down, shaken together to

make room for more, running over,

and poured into your lap.

The amount you give will

determine the amount you get back.

Luke 6:38

Their only suggestion was

that we keep on helping the poor,

which I have always been eager to do.

Galatians 2:10

Remember this—a farmer who plants

only a few seeds will get a small crop.

But the one who plants generously

will get a generous crop.

Obey the Lord
be humble,
and you will get riches,
honor,
and a long life
.Proverbs 22:4
