Sunday Chat: Hearing From God

So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James 2:17

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

And even when you ask,

you don’t get it because

your motives are all wrong—

you want only what will give you pleasure.

James 4: 3

Do not be anxious about anything,

but in everything by prayer and supplication

with thanksgiving let your requests

be made known to God.

And the peace of God,

which surpasses all understanding,

will guard your hearts and

your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

And without faith

it is impossible to please him,

for whoever would draw near to God

must believe that he exists

and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Therefore, confess your sins to

one another and pray for one another,

 that you may be healed.

The prayer of a righteous person

has great power as it is working.

James 5:16

And whatever we ask

we receive from him,

because we keep his commandments

and do what pleases him.

1 John 3:22

Pray without ceasing,

1 Thessalonians 5:17

And this is the confidence

that we have toward him,

that if we ask anything

according to his will he hears us.

And if we know that he hears us

in whatever we ask,

we know that we have the requests

that we have asked of him.

1 John 5:14-15

If any of you lacks wisdom,

let him ask God,

who gives generously to

all without reproach,

and it will be given him.

James 1:5

And he told them a parable

to the effect that they ought

always to pray and not lose heart.

Luke 18:1

Praying at all times in the Spirit,

with all prayer and supplication.

To that end keep alert

with all perseverance,

making supplication for all the saints,

Ephesians 6:18

“Keep on asking,

and you will receive

what you ask for.

Keep on seeking,

and you will find.

Keep on knocking,

and the door will

be opened to you.

Matthew 7:7

Therefore I tell you,

whatever you ask in prayer,

believe that you have received it,

and it will be yours.

Mark 11:24

And whatever you ask in prayer,

you will receive,

if you have faith.”

Matthew 21:22

You don’t have enough faith,”

Jesus told them.

“I tell you the truth,

if you had faith even as small

as a mustard seed,

you could say to this mountain,

‘Move from here to there,’

and it would move.

Nothing would be impossible"

Matthew 17:20

Then, teaching them more about prayer,

he used this story:

“Suppose you went to a friend’s house

at midnight, wanting to borrow

three loaves of bread.

You say to him,

‘A friend of mine has just arrived

for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’

  And suppose he calls out

from his bedroom,

‘Don’t bother me.

The door is locked for the night,

and my family and I are all in bed.

I can’t help you.’

But I tell you this—though he

won’t do it for friendship’s sake,

if you keep knocking long enough,

he will get up and give you whatever

you need because of your

shameless persistence.

 “And so I tell you,

keep on asking,

and you will receive what

you ask for.

Keep on seeking,

and you will find.

Keep on knocking,

and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks, receives.

Everyone who seeks, finds.

And to everyone who knocks,

the door will be opened.

 “You fathers—if your children

ask for a fish,

do you give them a snake instead?

Or if they ask for an egg,

do you give them a scorpion?

Of course not!

So if you sinful people know

how to give good gifts to your children,

how much more will your heavenly

Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”

Luke 11:5-13

If you abide in me,

and my words abide in you,

 ask whatever you wish,

and it will be done for you

John 15:7

Let all that I am wait

quietly before God,

for my hope is in him.

Psalm 62:5

I will say to the Lord

“My refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalm 91:2

For the word of God

is living and active,

sharper than any two-edged sword,

piercing to the division

 of soul and of spirit,

of joints and of marrow,

and discerning the thoughts

and intentions of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

All Scripture is breathed

 out by God and

profitable for teaching,

for reproof, for correction,

and for training in righteousness,

2 Timothy 3:16

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit,

whom the Father will send in my name,

he will teach you all things

and bring to your remembrance

all that I have said to you.

John 14:26

But he answered, “It is written,

“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that comes from the

Matthew 4:4

So faith comes from hearing,

and hearing through the word of Christ.

Romans 10:17

Until now you have asked

nothing in my name.

Ask, and you will receive,

that your joy may be full.

John 16:24
