Easy French Dip

The original recipe is by Cooking With Karli and is done in an Insta Pot. I adapted the recipe for the crock pot. Either way, so easy and delicious!

 Ingredients

  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2-3 lbs chuck roast
  • 1 pkg onion soup mix
  • 1 pkg au jus seasoning
  • Sandwich Supplies:
  • 6-8 rolls (Mark likes Ciabatta rolls or French rolls)
  • sliced white cheese I like provolone
  • mayonnaise & horse radish
  • OR
  • butter & garlic powder

Steps
  1. Add broth, roast, onion soup mix, and au jus seasoning to your Crock Pot. Cook on HIGH for 4 to 5 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours - till roast falls apart with fork. Remove from the pot and shred. I like to return the meat to the juice, but this does make it absorb more juice (i.e., will be more 'drippy).
  2. To make the sandwiches, toast rolls then spread with butter and sprinkle garlic or mayonnaise and horseradish (my personal favorite). Place sliced cheese on the top roll and add the shredded meat to the roll to create your sandwich. These were plenty juicy but, if you wanted, you could ladle some of the juice into small individual ramekins for dipping.
Notes
  • Short on time? Cut your roast up into 3 or 4 large chunks
